The Ethics of Being a Parliamentarian

W. Craig Henry CPP-T, PRP

This interactive 75-minute workshop will cover ethical dilemmas and the Joint Code of Professional Responsibility (JCOPR), including:

  • What are the difference between ethics and professional responsibility?
  • What are the differences between aspirational and professional responsibility standards for parliamentarians?
  • Who is covered by the JCOPR?
  • How is a penalty of a violation of the JCOPR aspirational standard assessed?
  • What should a parliamentarian do if they hear that another parliamentarian states they have a credential that you know they have not been granted?
  • When should a parliamentarian report a violation of the JCOPR?
  • Should a parliamentarian lower their fee to obtain a client engagement?
  • When should a parliamentarian "fire" a client?
  • When should a parliamentarian decline an appointment

Questions and answers will be taken both during and at the end of the workshop.

Download a copy of the Joint Code of Professional Responsibility here to have prior to the workshop.

This workshop is approved for 1.5 CEUs on behalf of the National Association of Parliamentarians for NAP credential renewal
